The Football League, also known as npower Football League for sponsorship reasons, is a League competition featuring football clubs from the United Kingdom and Wales. Founded in 1888, is the oldest such competition football. It is the top level football league in the United Kingdom since its creation in the 19th century until 1992, when the top 20 clubs broke away to form the Premier League.
Football League has been associated with the title sponsor since 1983. As a sponsor of this has changed over the years the League has been known as turn as Canon League today, League, League of Barclays, Endsleigh League, National Football League and the League of Coca-Cola sponsorship, until now npower adopted in 2010, contracted until 2013.
Football League is also the name of the League, and this body also held two knock-out Cup competition, the Football League Cup and Football League Cup.
