Nivea’s Great football Experiment – Where Sunday League takes on England’s legends

Chances are that a lot of you played in a Sunday League. You put it all out there against your buddies or league mates and you were looking to take down a small prise. You probably fancy yourself a good football player, but you understand your limitations. You and your football playing buddies could never go up against a team of English football legends, could you? That just sounds like a far-fetched scenario, right? The fact of the matter is that it’s not far-fetched at all when Nivea gets involved. This is what the Great Football Experiment was all about.

Not too often do Sunday League guys get to test their wits. These are mostly guys who are just out for some fun. But with Nivea involved, the game changed a little bit. They invited teams from all over to apply in hopes of being a part of it all. Nivea ended up choosing Ivory, F.C., a team that was just a solid Sunday League club. What this didn’t realise was that they were going to put through some of the most challenging practices of their lives. The end result was a transformation for this team and the opportunity of a lifetime for those guys to show what they were made of.

Nivea contracted with Ray Wilkins and Terry Venables to prepare the club. Everyone knows that Sunday League teams, if left to their own devices, don’t stand a real chance against the legends of English football. But what happens when Wilkins, Venables, and the rest of the coaching staff get on top of these players? The results were great. Ivory turned from a Sunday League team to a club of real footballers. They got stronger, faster, and in better shape. They played better football on the whole. At the end of the experiment, they put their newfound skills right to the test, taking on a team full of proper legends in the English football world.

They took on a club of legends and they didn’t back down. Ivory defeated the legends in a close match, winning two to one. This was a win for Ivory and Nivea, as the Great Football Experiment was a sure-fire success.
